I find it hard to believe that so many people have forgotten that Fred Phillips was the deputy commissioner of the department of safety before he was ever appointed as commissioner. I also find it hard to believe that the deputy commissioner would not know what is going on in his department.

Dear Tennessee Voters,

Greetings. My name is Chris Lugo and I want to be your Senator.

I am the only candidate running for United States Senate from Tennessee who stands for peace. I want an end to this illegal, immoral and unjust war in Iraq that has claimed the lives of over two thousand Americans and has cost us hundreds of billions of dollars.

President Bush had no business sending troops into Iraq. He lied to Americans about weapons of mass destruction and now he is busy spying on Americans. He has violated the United States Constitution and he and the right wing extremists who have put him in office need to go.

Tennessee needs a progressive voice representing her at the federal level. Tennesseans care about health care, they care about jobs, they care about a sustainable environment. Tennesseans want to live in a state and in a nation
whose future is secure and prosperous.

I am the only candidate running for Senate in Tennessee who stands for the progressive ideals that have made this country great. I am truly interested in the needs of the poor, the elderly, women and children, working people, immigrants, gays and lesbians, and the environment. I am the only candidate who stands for peace. I have a long history of service to my community and working for a better Tennessee.

I thank you for your time and hope you will consider me as your next United States Senator.

Sincerely,

Chris Lugo
Green Party of Tennessee
Candidate for US Senate

EE,

All human suffering is merited. It is the consequence both of original sin and our own personal sin. Since we all deserve death by virtue of our own sin, nothing we suffer on this earth should be so easily tossed aside.

Remember, "he who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me." Matt 10:38

Very fitting I think: "God is the inner principle of all movement, the only identity which already fulfils and illuminates the universe. Everything is incorporated in this one principle, because it encloses infinity, it includes everything, and there is nothing that could be outside of it. " Giordano Bruno

Write about something interesting. Start with your own opinions about things other people are interested in. I would suggest the kind which may be contrary to those expressed by others.

Ezekiel 25:17

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

It is overused by gangsters as something hard to say before they kill someone. I don't think that was it's intended purpose :)

I must reiterate what EE posted in his response. If life begins at conception, then abortion is the harming of another person, and the person who does the harming must be held responsible. According to the Libertarian platform: "The Libertarian Party is the party of personal responsibility. We believe that anyone who harms another person should be held responsible for that action."

So, the argument here is not whether or not someone should be punished for harming another - the answer to that is clearly affirmative. Rather, the argument is over when life begins. If not at conception, then when?

Ayn,
If you continue to follow my blog, you will discover that I am not a single issue voter. I also did not claim to be a Libertarian, but I said I "take a Libertarian approach," which simply means that I long for a less intrusive government on many issues.

I do not believe that my view on abortion is anti-Libertarian, but I do reiterate I am not a Libertarian; I simply have a Libertarian ideology on several issues. (I will change my post that says that I despise the pro-choice crowd. It is a little harsher than I had hoped to put forward.) My belief is that evidence points to life beginning at conception. (There is evidence that says otherwise, but I have to err on the side of it beginning at conception.) Following this reasoning then, if life begins at conception, then abortion would, in effect, kill an actual human life. This would mean that an innocent life was lost, and thus there was a murder. Murder is something that must be a crime, and thus the government must be involved.

I do not believe that the government should be involved in most of my private life. However, if I were to not stand up for this, then I would be a hypocrite, following my line of thought. I can not speak for you. I do not know when you think that life begins, but I hope that you will not see my thoughts as being hypocritical. And I do ask that you come to my blog. Be as critical as possible.

And, I have looked at the Libertarian Platform. I admire much of what is in it, but if I were to run for office, I would probably not do so as a Libertarian. But, I do admire the Libertarian ideology, and I do agree with several ideas of the Libertarian Party.
